About Us

4th Generation FAMILY Farm

Mappes Farms Meat Market is family owned and operated by the farmer, Darryl Mappes and the farmers daughter, Brittany Mappes-Opoien. Our little Meat Market building is located on our familys 4th Generation Farm here in Norman, Oklahoma. We ARE NOT a Butcher Shop! We are just a family of farmers who raise the animals.

Our farm, known as Mappes Farms, has proudly been a working pig and cattle farm for over 40+ years. It all started way back with Darryls dad, Henry "Doc" Mappes, wanting to raise a few show pigs along with some cattle.

The Mappes name became well known for raising record breaking "red hogs". Our highest record took place at the 2011 NSR Conference with our Champion Duroc Boar, known as Crown Royal, selling for $100,000. Still today, we continue raising Durocs along with a few other breeds not only for our pork production but also for future 4-H & FFA projects. The grandkids living on the farm have all participated in 4-H showing their swine projects. Every generation of the Mappes family have been big supporters of our Ag kids. These kids are our nations future farmers!

Agriculture has been a part of our family for many years. Even generations before Mappes Farms. Our farming family tree actually goes all the way back to the dairy barns that Henry (Doc) grew up around!

Our family believes in the future of agriculture, hard work, strong family values, and being deeply rooted in Faith. Our hope is to leave a legacy about beliefs and values passed down through generations, ensuring things are left better for those yet to come.
